Collinsville Fire Department began providing emergency medical services on July 20, 1970, one of the first Illinois fire departments south of the Chicagoland area to do so. 

On Monday, July 26, the City Council will honor the 40th anniversary of CFD EMS with commendations presented to the first Emergency Medical Technicians in the department.  Ten of the retirees who worked for the Fire Department at that time are expected to attend the meeting.  The meeting begins at 7:30pm and is expected to be the first thing on the agenda.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
