The Local 2625 family has been affected by cancer within the last year, with both good and bad results.  Debbie Cooper, the wife of Firefighter Dennis Cooper, sadly lost her fight with cancer earlier this year. Cathy Bennett, the wife of Lieutenant Dave Bennett, has recovered after beating breast cancer.

To show support for both of these families, the wives of many Local 2625 members organized a Relay for Life team, and dubbed themselves the "CFD Cancer Extinguishers."  The event took place in Collinsville on May 13-14 at Son Life Church/Collinsville Christian Academy.
